Student Programs
PhD-student Programs
Several PhD projects are currently available in Western Australian Organic and Isotope Geochemistry Centre commencing in 2009 and 2010.
Other highly competitive PhD scholarships (potential projects open for discussion) are available for international applicants (international fees are waived) commencing 2010.
Projects on offer are in reseach areas of extant CSIA higher plant studies collaborative with RSBS (ANU), biomarkers and CSIA associated with mass extinction events and petroleum geochemistry.
Scholarships
A 3 year PhD scholarship is available from Jan 2010 entitled ‘Novel biomarkers and their stable isotopic compositions associated with the end-Permian and end-Devonian mass extinction events’. Project support comes from an ARC QEII Discovery grant. The project is open to national and international applicants. The project will involve a combination of organic geochemical techniques including GC-MS, GC-IRMS, LC-MS and PY-GCMS and extant algal mesocosm experiments. A field trip either to Spitsbergen or South America or Canning Basin, WA will probably take place during the project.
